Master

The Master’s degree programme, which is a two-year continuation of the Bachelor’s degree programme, expands the students’ knowledge of and skills in the subject of study. At the same time, it provides an opportunity to delve deeper into the field of study. In order to join the MA programme, it is necessary to have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree or supplementary subject programme.

After completion of the MA programme the student earns the degree of “cand.mag.” (Candidates/candidata magisteris), which translates into English as MA (Master of Arts). The diploma awarded is in both languages, Danish and English.

The Master’s degree programme in Linguistics is open to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or a supplementary subject in Linguistics. The bulk of the MA courses are taught in English. Students can start either in the spring or the fall semester, though preference is given to beginning in the spring semester.

Courses are offered each year in grammatical, theoretical, social, applied and interactional areas. In addition, there are many possibilities for personal specializations and for internships in places of employment (in Danish).

Courses in the Master’s degree programme are based on research. They are usually based on the lecturer’s own research, and there are many opportunities for students to engage in small research projects.

You can read more in Danish about the Master’s degree programme in Linguistics here. [§25 from BA translated (is available)] You can find an overview of the subjects taught in the programme semester by semester here.
