40 years of Medieval Archaeology at Aarhus University

More than 150 people - researchers from home and abroad together with both graduate and undergraduate students - participated in the celebration of 40 years of Medieval Archaeology at Aarhus University on the 26-28 October 2011. Watch the pictures from the event.

Wednesday 26 October

Medieval Archaeology in Denmark, its history and current agenda, with contributions by departmental staff, PhD students as well as ex-students and other colleagues outside of the department. The state of the discipline in the rest of Scandinavia. A reception in the late afternoon.

Thursday 27 October

40 years of North Atlantic archaeology (the Faeroes, Iceland, Greenland) and other research topics. Celebratory dinner.

Friday 28 October

Either 1) Excursions to monastic sites, including Øm, 2) a walk across the town of Aarhus, including a visit to the cathedral and the newly-displayed Viking Museum or 3) a visit to the Department and Moesgård Museum
